OPENING NIGHT! UNDER THE LIGHTS! That’s right May is when Jiffy Lube

Live opened it’s doors for the 2024 season. The last time I was there was for the final show of the 2023 season. Back in Sept for Fuerza Regida. So I was excited for opening night & to be back. This time I had a special surprise. A custom made t shirt from customink. This year they changed the “Lawn Pass” (which I had last year) to the ”Lawnie Pass” So I thought for a new idea! On the back of this shirt has (almost) all of the dates and shows for

the 2024 season. I have the day of the week as well as the numbers. All in order beginning with this show being at the top left. Ending with “Marley Brothers” Sept show for closing night in the bottom right of shirt. So think of it like a tour shirt but instead of a bunch of different cities etc. This is the tour shirt for the venue in the entire season, & all the different

shows respectively.

Last year opening night was Janet Jackson in the first weekend of May. This year opening night was the 2nd weekend in May. Usually by the end of April all of the shows have been announced. I thought the Pitbull & Imagine Dragons shows were the last announced. So I had to make the shirt and give it enough time for it to be delivered so I could wear it for opening night. So I wore the shirt last night for the Neil Young show, but sadly they announced two shows very late. “Junior H” & “Falling in Reverse” Those will have to be added on later idk!

Anyway, It had just rained before Me & Parks left my parents house for the show. That cooled the temps down. It was already a lot cooler that day anyway, But for the temperature up top. That is going to represent what it was like at 21:00 (9pm). Because at that point the headliner is playing. People who arrive late are all inside. & people who leave early haven’t hit the exits yet. So that’s like prime concert peak time, but it was moist & cloudy & cold all night.

We didn’t see the opener, but did see Neils whole set. When I’m not eating gummies, which I abstained for this show. I don’t roam and wander around. So I sat and watched the entire performance from Neil & Crazy Horse. It wasn’t to crowded on the lawn. Which usually means you can sneak under the pavilion for a seat. Which is what I did & enjoyed the 300 level with plenty of space. He went on about 20:25 and played till about 22:10. So over an hour & a half. Decant. However he has been slighting some pretty popular songs off his setlist. I didn’t get my miracle for “Rockin in the free world” & Parks didn’t get his miracle for “Southern Man”.

I know its opening night but the side video boards under the roof next to the 100 level were off along with the ones for the lawn. The show was incredibly boring. The music was good & I don’t expect every show to be like KISS or some TOOL visual experience. But that’s why I have the categories in the footer separated. It was so dark and compact on stage, no movement anywhere. I probably sat 80% of the time & went through a whole bag of Spitz Cracked Pepper seeds! The crowd was probably 50:50 male:female. Mostly white

people in the 60’s. Neil is a 78 year old Canadian don’t forget. There was a piano that I think was never used!? My favorite part was when an organ/keyboard floating from the roof was dropped down to play for like 2 songs. VA local beer only & cool organizations had tents along the concourse!

Overall Ratings: Music: 7/10 Show 4:10 Overall Enjoyment 5:10
